Letting the imagination run wild in the woods!!
On our New Year’s Day Walk from Henrhyd Waterfalls to Abercraf we saw so many interesting trees both growing and fallen. Perhaps it was because it was such a mucky, muddy walk and we had to keep our eyes down to stop us slipping but it meant the pace of the walk was slow and the need to stop and look up gave us ample opportunity to notice the fascinating branch structures of the trees and foliage. Ivy, Lichen and Fungi making a tree trunk or branch its home gave the environment a magical quality.
Is it any surprise that our imaginations started to run wild too? Usually it would be me that shouts out “look a Mammoth!” but on this occasion it was my eldest daughter who had spotted it! My work here is done! We even spotted a baby Mammoth too! I’ll add the photos along side the sketches just in case my drawings are not as clear. Finally, as i reflect on this beautiful walk it makes me want to plant a tree!
